Destroyed housing - cancellation of utility payments

The Verkhovna Rada plans to vote on a law to cancel utility payments for destroyed housing. This was reported by Mykhailo Tsymbaliuk, the first deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy.

The draft law has support from various factions and will be considered in the coming weeks. However, it is important to have a discussion with associations of local government bodies, Tsymbaliuk noted.

Several local authorities have already made similar decisions at the local level, but many of them are citing a lack of changes in legislation. It is emphasized that Russian attacks have caused damage not only to residential buildings but also to shopping centers, which also pay property tax.

If the law is adopted, the government will develop a procedure for exemption from taxes and utility payments. In the event that the housing becomes unsuitable for use, any utility payments will cease during the state of war and for one year after its completion.
