Ukraine may change the rules for importing electricity from the EU.


Ukraine is preparing to lift restrictions on electricity imports from the EU to ensure balance in the energy system during possible attacks from Russia. The NEURC plans to make the corresponding decision and review the cap prices in the wholesale electricity market. The main goal of this step is to ensure stable electricity supply to all consumers and compensate for possible shortages in the winter period due to Russian terrorist attacks. However, these changes will not affect electricity prices for the population.
On September 25, 2024, the NEURC published a draft resolution on its official website. It is planned that the draft will be approved on October 1, after which public discussion will begin. During the discussion, the opinions of all participants in the electricity market will be taken into account. Ukraine also plans to raise cap prices for electricity.
