In the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the official who claimed not to know his mother-in-law was relieved of his duties.


The performance of the head of the winter Olympic sports department was terminated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. Serhiy Sednev, a former biathlete who is a subject of an investigation, received an order to stop certain functions related to the financial and material support of Ukraine's national teams and the distribution of funds for winter sports.
Six individual entrepreneurs connected to him received over 59 million UAH from the state budget through 'Ukrsportzabezpechennya,' which is subordinate to the Ministry. In connection with this, the institution contacted the Antimonopoly Committee for an investigation into discrepancies with competition laws.
The Ministry provided information to the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine for further checks
Sednev's mother-in-law also received funding from 'Ukrsportzabezpechennya.' Some individuals associated with him won tenders for the supply of necessary sports equipment.
Sednev claimed in a response to the press that he was not acquainted with some individuals mentioned in the case and has no influence over their activities. He also assured that neither he nor his wife control the activities of these individuals or assist them.
Sednev assured that he cannot provide information regarding individuals living separately from him and has no connection to their business activities.
