France emotionally reacted to Trump's tariff threats - media.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot stated that the European Union will respond to the latest threat from US President Donald Trump regarding tariffs.
According to Reuters, the comments from the French Foreign Ministry came after Trump announced a 25% tariff on all imported steel and aluminum in addition to the existing tariffs on these metals, reports European Truth.
Responding to the question of whether France and the European Union will react to this, Barrot said yes.
'Of course. This was already done by Donald Trump in 2018, and we reacted. We will react again,' he stated.
Barrot noted that the European Commission will make decisions regarding the sectors that will be subject to retaliatory measures.
'It (the European Commission - Ed.) is ready to pull the trigger when the Time comes. The time has come. No one is interested in continuing a trade war with the European Union,' added the head of the French Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, Trump stated that he 'absolutely will' impose tariffs against the EU, referring to Brussels' actions regarding American technology companies and the large trade deficit in goods.
French President Emmanuel Macron believes that the imposition of American tariffs on goods from the European Union could harm the American economy, causing inflation to rise.
