According to a security service source, on Tuesday, hundreds of members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, including militants and medics, were seriously injured as a result of pager explosions they use for communication.

A Hezbollah representative, who wished to remain anonymous, called the pager detonation "the biggest security breach" the group has faced in nearly a year of war with Israel.

Pager explosions amid escalating Israel-Hezbollah conflict
The explosions occurred amid escalating violence between Israel and Hezbollah, which have been engaged in cross-border fighting since the beginning of the Gaza war last October.
Reuters journalist reported on ambulances rushing through the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut amid widespread panic. According to local residents, explosions continued even 30 minutes after the initial blasts. A security source added that devices were also exploding in southern Lebanon.
Regional television channels broadcast surveillance camera footage showing a small portable device placed next to a cashier in a grocery store, where a shopper was paying, spontaneously exploding. In other footage, the explosion appeared to knock down a person standing near a fruit stand at a market.
Lebanese crisis operations center called on medical workers to help the injured
The Lebanese crisis operations center, operating under the ministry of health, called on all medical workers to report to their hospitals to help cope with the large number of injured requiring urgent care. The center also warned medical workers not to use pagers.
