Russians are receiving economic benefits from the occupied part of Ukraine: ISW clarification.


Russia is benefiting economically from occupied Ukraine by using its infrastructure and logistics networks. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War.
Russian Railways, known as Roszheldor, announced the passage of a train with an unknown cargo through occupied Ukraine, arriving in Sevastopol. The cargo will be unloaded in Sevastopol and exported through Black Sea ports. An order was also created for this in May by the 'Novorossiysk Railway'.
This railway operates on three lines in occupied Ukraine: Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kherson-Melitopol. Russia uses them to support its troops and transport goods to Black Sea ports for export.
Moreover, Russia may use these railways to transport goods to Crimea without the railway bridge over the Kerch Strait, as well as to transport resources from occupied Ukraine to international markets.
According to 'Crimea Realities', Russia is exporting stolen gas and grain through the ports of Kerch. According to an article by The Wall Street Journal, Russia sold nearly $1 billion of stolen Ukrainian grain, using railways in occupied Ukraine for exports. Coal is also exported through occupied Mariupol.
The war has been ongoing for 1157 days.
