Russia expects the exhaustion effect on Ukraine – Bundeswehr colonel.

Russia has not abandoned its military goals in Ukraine
According to Markus Reisner, Russian negotiations in Istanbul are merely a façade aimed at buying Time. Russian delegates have been sent without adequate authority, ignoring the Ukrainian side's questions.
Ukraine and Russia met in Istanbul, which is a positive development. However, for fruitful negotiations in the future, delegations need to be better staffed.
'The Russians want to continue from where they stopped three years ago,' Reisner noted.
'The Russian army is creeping forward, but they are still far from their initial military goals,' he emphasized.
Colonel Reisner also pointed out that Russia has support from other countries in its war against Ukraine. This allows it to act confidently. It is this support that enables Russia to advance and even strengthen its forces.
The planned 17th EU sanctions package against Russia will have a long-term effect. However, for Ukraine, it is essential to have resources for an effective defensive war and to receive support from partners.
