Ryazan Oil Refinery Halted Operations After Drone Attack - Reuters.


The oil refinery in Ryazan was forced to suspend its operations after a drone attack carried out by Ukrainian forces. This was reported by the publications 'Glaicom' and Reuters.
After the attack that occurred on the night of February 24, the crude oil distillation unit CDU-6 caught fire. The refinery completely halted oil processing, although it may partially resume operations within a few days.
The capacity of this unit is approximately 170 thousand barrels of oil per day, which constitutes about 48% of the total capacity of the refinery. To continue production, the refinery may use two other units, with a total capacity of 145 thousand barrels per day.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that Defense Forces struck the Ryazan oil refinery. This information was reported by 'Glaicom' based on a statement from the General Staff.
Units of the drone systems and the Main Intelligence Directorate attacked the Ryazan oil refinery, which supplies the occupational army of the Russian Federation, on the night of February 24, 2025. We know about five explosions in the area of the refinery. The fire likely began near the oil processing unit Elow AT-6. Details of the attack are currently being clarified.
This is already the third drone attack on the Ryazan oil refinery this year. This refinery is one of the four largest oil refineries in the Russian Federation. It produces diesel fuel and TS-1 jet fuel.
