Germany plans to create a network of bunkers amid escalating international threats
The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BKK) in Germany is developing a plan to create a network of bunkers as international threats escalate. This is reported by the tabloid Bild.
According to Bild, a mobile application is also planned to be developed that will show citizens the distance to the nearest bunker. In addition, the BKK intends to encourage residents of Germany to create shelters in their garages and basements.

The head of the German Association of Cities and Communities calls for investment in civil protection
In March 2024, the head of the German Association of Cities and Communities, Andre Berghegger, called for billions in federal investment to protect the population of Germany from potential war. He stated that safety is no longer a given and it is necessary to protect the population from dangers associated with wars.
Berghegger called for an increase in the number of bomb shelters in the country, as only 600 of the 2,000 bunkers that can accommodate about 500,000 people remain. He emphasized the need to restore decommissioned shelters.
