Chained themselves: In the Netherlands, eco-activists tried to stop a cruise ship.

In the Netherlands, eco-activists of the Extinction Rebellion movement blocked the locks in the city of IJmuiden on October 21, trying to stop the cruise ship Virtuosa. It is noted that four demonstrators chained themselves to the locks. In this way, the activists wanted to draw attention to the environmental pollution caused by cruise ships. Police freed those chained and transported them and other protesters in police vans. After that, the cruise ship continued its journey to Amsterdam.
Simultaneously, a counter-demonstration against the actions of the eco-activists also took place, involving predominantly residents of IJmuiden. They began gathering at night to display banners demanding Extinction Rebellion not to interfere in their city's affairs.
Climate activists doused a Van Gogh painting
Let us recall, climate activists of the Just Stop Oil movement once again doused Vincent Van Gogh's paintings. This happened a few hours after two activists were sentenced to prison for a previous protest against the artist's paintings.
In the UK, a verdict was also issued against activists of the Just Stop Oil movement. In 2022, they doused Vincent Van Gogh's painting "Sunflowers" with soup at the National Gallery in London. Both were sentenced to imprisonment.
By the way, eco-activists decided to conduct protests in an original way at a museum in Stockholm, smearing paint over the painting by French artist Claude Monet "The Artist's Garden at Giverny" at the National Museum.
