The first volunteers of the Ukrainian Legion based in Poland have arrived in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Legion has started training
The first unit of the Ukrainian Legion, which was established in Poland, has arrived in Ukraine to continue training. This was reported by the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar.
On January 10, 2025, more volunteers will sign contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and will go for training at the training ground in Poland.
«This is really a success story, which some politicians or Russian propaganda are trying to turn into a negative fact. The process, of course, we would like to go faster, but it is going as it is. We are working to make this information publicly available in all EU countries, and possibly overseas. We can only stimulate through voluntary encouragement; this is an absolutely voluntary unit. Our citizens who enlist in it, I am convinced, will have the appropriate satisfaction from good training», – said Bodnar.
The diplomat also pointed out that the training of the first volunteer legionnaires will continue at Ukrainian training grounds.
Bodnar did not specify the number of volunteers.
As a reminder, currently more than a thousand applications have been submitted to the «Ukrainian Legion», which is being formed on the territory of Poland. According to the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, the first recruitment for signing contracts and forming the unit took place in November. The next recruitment is scheduled for January 10.
In November, volunteers from the «Ukrainian Legion» in Poland took the military oath of loyalty to the Ukrainian people and are now undergoing training.
Earlier, the first volunteers signed contracts for service in the «Ukrainian Legion» at the General Consulate of Ukraine in Lublin. After the ceremony, they went to the training ground of the Polish Armed Forces.
It is also worth noting that the largest group of recruits who joined the Ukrainian Legion in Poland consists of Ukrainians living in the Czech Republic.
