The Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region made the Russians interested in the war — WP.

According to the materials of The Washington Post, the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region became a real blow to the Kremlin regime, undermining the very essence of Russian imperialist ideology. The Russian Federation tried to deny the sovereignty and identity of Ukraine, considering it as part of the 'great Russia'. However, Ukrainian nationalism and Ukrainian resistance demonstrated the fallacy of such an idea and struck not only with military actions but also psychologically, showing the peoples of Russia the vulnerable places of their country. This led to the spread of social questions about the safety and fate of Russian nuclear power plants, subordinate soldiers, and civilians who found themselves in the combat zone.
Academician Walter Clemens from Harvard University notes that regardless of the further development of the situation in Ukraine, this operation demonstrates the fragility of the Putin system and his dictatorship as a whole, not just intelligence and the army.
Over the past day, Ukrainian troops have made significant progress in the Kursk direction, and an Air Force fighter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Russian command post in the village of Tyotkino. Russia, in turn, began to withdraw its troops from Ukraine in response.
