IOC includes boxing in the 2028 Olympic program.

Boxing will be included in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. This decision was made by the IOC. The decision to include boxing in the program was made unanimously at the meeting of the International Olympic Committee.
In June 2023, the International Olympic Committee excluded the International Boxing Association (IBA) from the Olympic movement. Instead, a special unit was formed to hold boxing competitions at the 2024 Olympics. An alternative organization, World Boxing, was also created, founded by national federations that withdrew from the IBA. In February, the IOC temporarily recognized World Boxing as the organization managing boxing at the global level.
The 2028 Olympic Games will take place in Los Angeles from July 14 to July 30.
In 2024, at the Olympics in Paris, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khyzhnyak won a gold medal. The last Time Ukrainian boxers won 'gold' was in 2012.
Khyzhnyak defeated a boxer from Bakhmut, who now represents Hungary, in the 1/8 finals, as well as Brazilian Wanderley Pereira in the 1/4 finals. In the semi-final match, he overcame Cuban Arlen Lopez Cardona, although the judges awarded victory to the Cuban. In the final of the Olympics, Khyzhnyak defeated Kazakh Nurbek Oralbai.
Khyzhnyak also became a silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, where he lost to Brazilian Eberth Souza.
