Cyber Threats in Ukraine: State Special Communication Service Recorded a Significant Increase in Attacks.


The Government Computer Emergency Response Team CERT-UA, operating under the State Special Communication Service, addressed 4315 cyber incidents in 2024.
This is an increase of 69.8% compared to the previous year when cybercriminals attacked the Ukrainian cyber space 2541 times.
Most often, criminals target local government authorities, government and government organizations, the security and defense sector, the energy sector, commercial organizations, and telecommunications.
The most common types of incidents include malware distribution, phishing, malicious connections, and account or system compromise. The goal of the criminals is to steal sensitive information, as well as to destroy data and information systems.
The government team suggests that the Russian Federation will continue to use all possible methods to obtain information important to the enemy. Destructive attacks against critical infrastructure facilities, including the energy sector, will not cease.
