Historian: Germany Awaits a New Round of Reconsideration of World War II and the Overcoming of Fear Before Russia.

German Denazification and Its Consequences
The German society is still traumatized by memories of World War II, the memory of which remains in the consciousness of the people. The denazification carried out by the victors left its mark. Ukrainian historian and people's deputy Volodymyr Viatrovych spoke about this in an interview with 'Hlavkom'.
«Denazification was more successful in West Germany than in the east. It seems that they deliberately left the possibility for ultra-right parties to enter the authorities many years later - with the support of Russia and corresponding slogans. Germany awaits a new reconsideration of World War II and the overcoming of fear before Russia», - noted Viatrovych.
The historian emphasized that Germany must contemplate its role in the losses inflicted on Ukrainians. This has not yet happened, except for payments to Ostarbeiters in the early 1990s, most of whom were from Ukraine and Belarus. However, this cannot be considered as communication before the Ukrainian people who endured the greatest suffering during the war.
Underestimated Losses in Ukraine During World War II
Viatrovych emphasized: 'One cannot expect that the 'derashization' of Russia will happen from internal efforts. The current state of the country indicates that they cannot heal their problem themselves.'
In Germany, there are widespread beliefs that Russia suffered the most during the war. However, this is not true, as the largest human losses were borne by Ukraine, and its industry was practically destroyed. Historian and politician Viatrovych highlighted this in an interview with 'Hlavkom'.
Volodymyr Viatrovych also mentioned myths related to World War II, including Lend-Lease and the role of the USSR in victory.
During the conversation, Viatrovych pointed out Germany's vulnerability before ultra-right parties supported by Russia and called for the necessity of a new understanding of past events. He also noted the importance of Germany acknowledging its guilt towards countries that suffered the most during the war.
