Price restrictions in the electricity market hinder the construction of new power plants - Razumkov Center.

The problem for the construction of new power plants is price restrictions in the electricity market. This was stated by Volodymyr Omelchenko, director of energy programs at the Razumkov Center.
"It is better for the state to create conditions for private investors, rather than build new generating capacities itself. If these conditions were created, things would progress much faster," he said.
Unfortunately, today there are no such conditions due to problems with the electricity market, price caps, market model, and investment climate. These circumstances hinder construction," added Omelchenko.
The director of energy programs at the Razumkov Center also noted that due to price restrictions, only 300-400 MW of new generation may be built by the end of the year.
Omelchenko believes that due to these restrictions, it is impossible to build larger capacities.
It was previously stated that for the development of the energy sector, it is necessary to reduce state intervention in energy markets and work according to competitive and market rules.
