Ukrzaliznytsia comments on the latest Russian attacks on trains.

Russian attacks on the railway - what is known about the enemy's goal
Chairman of the Board of JSC 'Ukrzaliznytsia' Oleksandr Pertsovskyi commented on the recent strikes by Russian troops on the railway. He noted that the enemy is carrying out attacks on civilian trains with coal, trying to hit our coal industry, which is an important source of income for many families and is a source of life for Donetsk region.
'We responsibly assure and openly show to any international specialists: all the intensified strikes on the railway recently are aimed at civilian trains carrying only civilian cargo,' emphasized the representative of 'Ukrzaliznytsia.'
Pertsovskyi noted that the strikes are particularly often aimed at coal trains. This indicates that Russia has turned its attention to destroying important sectors of the Ukrainian economy.
The representative of 'Ukrzaliznytsia' stressed that in the past, the main target of Russian attacks was the railway infrastructure.
'The enemy has started a real 'hunt for locomotives', destroying transport vehicles, understanding that there are people inside them,' explained Pertsovskyi.
He also mentioned that 'Ukrzaliznytsia' has taken measures to protect its equipment and personnel from such attacks.
In the context of escalating tensions in eastern Ukraine, it is important to reconsider the legislation regarding social protection for workers of critical infrastructure who have suffered from Russia's aggression.
The Ukrainian railway is becoming a target of Russian attacks aimed at supporting the military campaign against Ukraine. These attacks on civilian coal trains indicate attempts to disrupt the economic stability of the country and undermine the social condition of the regions. Future proposals regarding the social protection of critical infrastructure workers may become one of the ways to defend against such attacks in the future.
